The owner is on your job

One contractor, start to finish

High Desert Development badge. General Construction Services, residential and commercial, established 1999, license 771814.

An estimate costs nothing, and the person who picks up the phone is the one who will be standing on your job.

More about the company

Most builds get handed down a chain. A salesman signs you, a manager you never meet schedules it, and a rotating cast of subcontractors does the actual work. That is where the quality goes.

High Desert Development runs the other way. the owner is on the job himself, and the trades are in house rather than bid out job to job. The same people who dig your utilities pour your foundation and frame your walls, so nobody is inheriting somebody else's mistakes, and there is one person to ask when you want to know how it is going. He is also a certified home inspector, so the eye on your framing is trained to catch what the final inspection will look for.

More than 30 years of that, across new residential, commercial and private construction, full-service remodeling, and underground utilities. Backyard sports courts too, which is work very few contractors out here take on.

Building on raw land somewhere out past the last of these? That is normal work here. What it takes to build on a vacant lot walks through it.

Another way to look at it

You do not have to buy somebody else's house

Most people who want a different house start by looking at houses that already exist, then take whatever compromise comes with the one they can afford. Out here there are two other doors, and both of them are open.

Build it instead. There is a great deal of land in the High Desert, much of it sold decades ago and never touched. On your own lot you decide the layout, the finishes, which way the house faces and where the windows go, rather than inheriting somebody else's decisions and paying later to undo them. Whether a particular parcel works is a question you can answer before spending anything, and what it takes to build on a vacant lot walks through it.

Or stay where you are and add. If the house is right and there is simply not enough of it, a room addition or a second unit in the yard keeps your address, your neighbours, your schools and your drive to work exactly as they are. A custom ADU is a self-contained second home on the same lot, for a parent, an adult child, guests or rental income. Remodeling covers the rest.

The place people usually get stuck is the money, and that is worth a conversation before it becomes a reason not to. How construction financing works explains why a build does not need the whole amount saved up front.

Paying for it

Construction financing is available

A build does not have to wait until the whole amount is sitting in the bank. We offer construction financing on custom homes, ADUs and larger projects, so the conversation can start with what you want to build rather than with what you have saved so far.

Construction loans also tend to work differently from how people expect. Rather than coming due when the build is finished, most are written to roll straight into a regular mortgage on the completed house. How construction financing works lays it out in plain language.

Ask about it when you call and we will walk you through it, with no obligation either way.
