Pickleball and sports court construction in the High Desert
A sports court is one of the few backyard projects that gets used almost every day. High Desert Development builds pickleball, tennis and basketball courts across California City, the Antelope Valley, Kern County and Los Angeles County, and we handle the whole thing rather than subbing it out.
That matters more than it sounds. A court is really a concrete job first. The slab has to be flat, properly drained and correctly reinforced, or the surface on top of it will not last through many High Desert summers. We pour our own foundations and flatwork, so the part that decides whether the court survives is done by our own crew.
What a court project usually involves
- Site walk and layout, including where the sun sits and which way you want to face
- Clearing, grading and compaction
- Reinforced concrete slab with proper drainage fall
- Surfacing, line striping and net posts
- Fencing, wind screening and lighting if you want to play in the evening
Indoor courts too
The court in the first photo below was built inside a residential garage. If you have the span for it, an indoor court plays year round and stays out of the wind, which out here is worth a great deal.
Sizes people usually ask about
A regulation pickleball court plays on a 20 by 44 foot surface, and most people allow roughly 30 by 60 feet of total space around it. A full tennis court needs considerably more. If you are not sure whether your lot has room, send us the address and we will tell you honestly before anybody spends money.
Construction financing is available on larger projects, so a court can often be built alongside other work rather than waiting for another year.
